چکیده

This paper introduces an extension to undirected graphical models of the classical continuous time Markov chains. This model can be used to solve a transductive or unsupervised multi-class classification problem at each point of a network defined as a set of nodes connected by segments of different lengths. The classification is performed not only at the nodes, but at every point of the edge connecting two nodes. This is achieved by constructing a Potts process indexed by the continuum of points forming the edges of the graph. We propose a homogeneous parameterization which satisfies Kolmogorov consistency, and show that classical inference and learning algorithms can be applied. We then apply our model to a problem from geomatics, namely that of labelling city blocks automatically with a simple typology of classes (e.g. collective housing) from simple properties of the shape and sizes of buildings of the blocks. Our experiments shows that our model outperform standard MRFs and a discriminative model like logistic regression.

We investigate numerically and analytically Potts models on " thin " random graphs – generic Feynman diagrams, using the idea that such models may be expressed as the N → 1 limit of a matrix model. The thin random graphs in this limit are locally tree-like, in distinction to the " fat " random graphs that appear in the planar Feynman diagram limit, N → ∞, more familiar from discretized models o...

Ising and Potts models on quenched random gravity graphs

We report on single-cluster Monte Carlo simulations of the Ising, 4-state Potts and 10-state Potts models on quenched ensembles of planar, tri-valent (Φ3) random graphs. We confirm that the firstorder phase transition of the 10-state Potts model on regular 2D lattices is softened by the quenched connectivity disorder represented by the random graphs and that the exponents of the Ising and 4stat...

Average properties of combinatorial problems and thermodynamics of spin models on graphs

The study of thermodynamic properties of classical spin models on infinite graphs naturally leads to consider the new combinatorial problems of random-walks and percolation on the average. Indeed, spin models with O n continuous symmetry present spontaneous magnetization only on transient on the average graphs, while models with discrete symmetry (Ising and Potts) are spontaneously magnetized o...

Two-Dimensional Unoriented Strings And Matrix Models

We investigate unoriented strings and superstrings in two dimensions and their dual matrix quantum mechanics. Most of the models we study have a tachyon tadpole coming from the RP 2 worldsheet which needs to be cancelled by a renormalization of the worldsheet theory. We find evidence that the dual matrix models describe the renormalized theory. The singlet sector of the matrix models is integra...

A Potts/Ising Correspondence on Thin Graphs

We note that it is possible to construct a bond vertex model that displays q-state Potts criticality on an ensemble of φ random graphs of arbitrary topology, which we denote as “thin” random graphs in contrast to the fat graphs of the planar diagram expansion. Since the four vertex model in question also serves to describe the critical behaviour of the Ising model in field, the formulation reve...
